As a manufacturing intern for Honda Canada, my responsibilities revolve around mating the Civic’s engine to its frame and inspecting the quality of my processes. The tight tolerance between the engine’s bolts and the frame’s mounts means the mating procedure must be carried out precisely to the process’ guide. Furthermore, Honda is known for their quality and reliability, hence all cars must be inspected and re-inspected by the personnel of their respective zones.

Highlights

  • Reduced engine-frame mating time by 18% (from 42s to 35s), thus allowing overhead time for later processes.

  • Reduced rear suspension - frame mating time by 21% (from 42s to 33s)

  • Tightened suspension links | Fixed cross-threaded bolts and misalignments of dampers

  • Inspected rear-brake hose and damper nut for tightness and correct engine mount types
